Amaravati, February 15, 2026: Over a dozen girl students at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in A. Kondur village, NTR district, suffered rat bites while asleep in the hostel dormitory.
The incident, reported from Wednesday night, stemmed from poor hygiene overflowing septic tanks, open windows without meshes, dumped food waste, and stagnant water that attracted rodents, mosquitoes, and even monkeys.
Parents rushed to the school in anger, highlighting ongoing issues with maintenance, food quality, and living conditions for the 240 residents, many from underprivileged backgrounds.
