Amaravati, February 15, 2026: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu praised the state's ₹3.32 lakh crore budget for 2026-27 as a strong step forward under tough conditions, calling it better than expected given inherited financial strains. He predicted much stronger budgets ahead as Andhra Pradesh stabilises and grows.

Naidu spoke to reporters in the Assembly lobby in Vijayawada after Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav presented the budget on February 14. He noted the coalition government's efforts to tackle low revenue and high spending from the prior regime, with central support helping manage commitments.

Key highlights include ₹30,000 crore for turning Rayalaseema into a horticulture powerhouse transforming a once water-scarce region through projects like Handri-Neeva and focused infrastructure in Amaravati, expected to fully develop in three years with new ring roads boosting connectivity and revenue. Naidu stressed rising income from agriculture and services as vital for long-term recovery, aligning with the vision for a prosperous Andhra by 2047.
