Amaravati, February 15, 2026: The state government issued orders on Saturday to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing claims of irregularities in the evaluation of answer scripts and overall recruitment for APPSC Group-I posts, linked to Notification No. 27/2018.

This follows a directive from the Andhra Pradesh High Court, which on February 11 ordered the formation or reconstitution of an SIT headed by an officer not below Additional Director General of Police rank to ensure a fair and time-bound inquiry.

The SIT, empowered under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, is led by APCID Chief Dr Ravi Shankar Ayyannar, with SP (EOW) K Chakravarthi as a member.

It can co-opt additional officers from any department and will verify preservation of selected candidates' answer scripts and check for possible tampering. The team reports directly to the High Court by March 16.
