Amaravati, February 15: The Andhra Pradesh government has earmarked Rs 6000 crore for the Amaravati Capital City Development Project in the 2026-27 state budget, making it the dominant portion of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) department's total allocation of Rs 14539 crore.
This capital-focused funding supports ongoing works in core infrastructure, government complexes, trunk roads, and urban systems, backed by a self-sustaining model with loans and external financing.
Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav highlighted rapid progress, noting administrative sanctions for 97 works worth Rs 57868 crore. He emphasised the government's commitment to building the "people’s capital" Amaravati, with additional support from central initiatives including statutory status legislation.
The broader MA&UD budget prioritizes urban projects like AMRUT 2.0 and sanitation, but Amaravati's lion's share underscores its role as the state's flagship growth driver.
