Amaravati, February 14, 2026: The CPI(M) Andhra Pradesh committee has sharply criticised the state's 2026-27 budget, calling it regressive and detrimental to public welfare, development, and social justice.

State secretary V. Srinivasa Rao highlighted the government's failure to deliver on Super Six promises, including ₹1,500 monthly aid to women and unemployment allowances.

He pointed to a projected fiscal deficit of around ₹75,000 crore, heavy reliance on market borrowings (nearly ₹76,000 crore of the ₹98,000 crore capital account), and declining revenues as signs of mounting debt pressure that could burden citizens further.

Allocations for agriculture (just 4% of the budget), rural development, education, welfare, and power face cuts, with little support for farmers, irrigation, or tenant cultivators.
