Amaravati, February 14, 2026: Andhra Pradesh's public debt is projected to reach ₹7.11 lakh crore by the end of the 2026-27 fiscal year, according to the state's latest budget estimates. The debt-to-GSDP ratio remains stable at 36%, even as absolute borrowings rise to fund welfare and development priorities.
The figure marks an increase from ₹6.35 lakh crore in the 2025-26 revised estimates, driven by a ₹3.32 lakh crore budget that balances capital spending (around ₹54,000 crore) with revenue needs.
Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav highlighted efforts to renegotiate high-interest loans inherited from the previous administration, securing savings and directing new borrowings toward productive uses.
GSDP for 2026-27 is estimated at ₹19.75 lakh crore, supporting the steady ratio amid growth-focused allocations in education, health, and infrastructure.
