Amaravati, February 14, 2026: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu approved the move following a proposal from the Medical and Health Department and Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav.

Previously, admissions relied on Intermediate marks, EAMCET, or the recent APNCET, but low turnout especially from outside the state, left nearly 4,000 of 16,000 seats empty last year.

The shift to the national NEET-UG exam promises uniform standards, a fixed schedule to avoid delays, and wider appeal for students planning nursing careers. Private colleges welcome it for added credibility.
