Vijayawada, February 14: The All India Inter-University Netball (Women) Tournament 2025-26 began today at Maris Stella College here. Organized by Krishna University under the Netball Association of India, the five-day event features 55 university teams from across the country in a knock-out-cum-league format.
Andhra Pradesh's growing role in national sports got a boost with the inauguration led by state Minister for Transport, Sports and Youth Services M. Ram Prasad Reddy as chief guest. He highlighted netball's power to build empowerment, confidence, and teamwork among young women athletes.
Krishna University Vice-Chancellor K. Ramji stressed that such events place sports on equal footing with education. Local participation included Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rammohan and college principal Inyasamma.
