Amaravati, February 13, 2026: Nellore district is stepping up as a defence manufacturing base. State officials moved quickly to shift a Rs 500 crore project to the area after delays elsewhere.
Premier Explosives Limited, a key player in high-energy materials, chose Muttarasalli village in Duttalur mandal for its new unit.
The 450-acre site will roll out in three phases, starting with medium-calibre ammunition, pyro devices and rocket propellants. Later stages will add bomb filling, artillery shells and a TNT plant.
