Amaravati, February 13, 2026: Tax officials and academics gathered at Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam in Tirupati praised the Goods and Services Tax (GST) for streamlining indirect taxes across India.

CGST and Customs Commissioner (Tirupati) Satish Dhavale noted that GST improved transparency, widened the tax base, and strengthened compliance.

Recent GST 2.0 reforms have rationalised rates, resulting in lower taxes on many items. This has indirectly boosted savings and increased purchasing power, especially for middle and emerging middle-class households.
