Amaravati, February 13, 2026: A court in Guntur remanded YSR Congress senior leader and former minister Ambati Rambabu to 14 days of judicial custody on Thursday in connection with an alleged illegal lottery during Sankranti celebrations in 2023.
The case, originating from a private complaint by Jana Sena Party's Guntur district president Gade Venkateswara Rao, accuses Rambabu of collecting money from old-age pensioners around Rs 200 per beneficiary via volunteers for lottery tickets under a festive lucky draw scheme in Sattenapalli constituency.
Authorities presented prima facie evidence, including digital records, prompting the remand. Police now seek his custody for deeper probe.
