Vijayawada, February 12, 2026: Rayalaseema Rashtra Samithi president Kuncham Venkatasubba Reddy submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu demanding 42% of the state budget be earmarked for Rayalaseema. The group also seeks a dedicated regional budget to tackle chronic underdevelopment.

Leaders point to stalled irrigation projects, including river interlinking efforts involving Krishna, Tungabhadra, and Pennar, which have left large farmland without reliable water.

They accuse uneven water-sharing policies of worsening the gap. Beyond irrigation, the memorandum pushes for startup corridors in every district, quick funding for a proposed steel plant in the region, revival of farmer crop insurance, and targeted investments in roads, hospitals, education, and industries.
