Amaravati, February 12, 2026: JSP MLA Konathala Ramakrishna from Anakapalli proposed during the Budget Session's Motion of Thanks debate that the House formally back the long-standing demand to confer India's highest civilian honour on NTR.

He highlighted NTR's visionary leadership that propelled the TDP to power within nine months of its launch in the 1980s, calling the delay in recognition "inordinate."

Konathala suggested that Assembly Speaker Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu, Deputy Speaker K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan jointly appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the award.
