Amaravati, February 10, 2026: Officials in Chittoor district carried out mass culling of around 3000 chickens in Karvetinagar mandal after reports of sudden deaths in poultry farms.

The action followed suspicions of avian influenza, possibly linked to migratory crows entering from Tamil Nadu border areas, where similar issues emerged earlier.

Animal Husbandry teams acted swiftly with preventive measures, including sample collection for confirmation at a high-security lab in Bhopal.

District authorities deployed medical and veterinary staff to monitor the situation, enforce isolation in affected zones, and extend surveillance to nearby villages. Collector Sumit Kumar assured no cause for public panic, as teams closely track developments to contain any spread.
