Amaravati, February 10, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh administration transferred two senior forest officers amid heightened disputes at Kolleru Lake, one of Asia's largest freshwater lakes and a vital wildlife sanctuary.

The changes follow a February 6 protest near Paidichintapadu village, where locals blocked officials to oppose enforcement actions against illegal aquaculture tanks and boundary issues.

Conservator of Forests B.N.N. Murthy (Rajahmundry) and Assistant Conservator B. Vijaya (Eluru Wildlife Management) were reassigned to report to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests. Replacement officers received full additional charge to maintain continuity.
