Alumni and donors have poured over ₹10 crore into Guntur Medical College in the past year, upgrading classrooms, labs, hostels, and campus facilities at one of Andhra Pradesh's top medical institutions.

Amaravati, February 10, 2026: Principal N.V. Sundarachary's push has sparked a major overhaul at Guntur Medical College, with alumni from batches like 1984, 1997, and 1999 plus groups such as GMC Alumni of North America mobilising more than ₹10 crore.

Key upgrades include two new buses (₹80 lakh total from the 1999 batch), canteen renovation (₹41 lakh), waterproofing of heritage buildings, new internal roads, RO plants, landscaping, and green spaces.

Department-specific work totals over ₹5 crore: Anatomy got ₹74.5 lakh for galleries and teaching areas, Biochemistry and Physiology received more than ₹1.4 crore for labs and equipment, and Pathology upgraded with over ₹70 lakh in tools like microscopes and smart boards. Hostels gained ₹14.8 lakh for sports and recreation.
