Amaravati, February 09, 2026: At least 106 boys at the Government Tribal Welfare Ashram School in Devarapalli, Rampachodavaram mandal, Polavaram district, fell ill after eating a semi-cooked breakfast on February 7.

Symptoms included vomiting, stomach pain, fever, and diarrhoea, leading to admissions at Rampachodavaram Area Hospital and Maredumilli Primary Health Centre.

ByFebruary 9, 35 students had recovered and were discharged, while 10 remain under medical observation. Authorities suspended the deputy warden and cook for negligence.

Tribal Welfare Department officials inspected the facility, met students, ensured safe drinking water, and ordered hygiene fixes like toilet repairs.
