Amaravati, February 09, 2026: Chittoor district administration has intensified efforts to end bonded labour with a mobile awareness campaign across Chittoor, Annamayya, and Tirupati districts.

Collector Sumit Kumar, joined by District Legal Services Authority Secretary M.S. Bharathi, launched the vehicle from the Collectorate on Monday.

The initiative, led by the NGO ROPES in partnership with the Andhra Pradesh Bonded Labour Liberation Federation, will visit villages to spread information on workers' rights, legal protections, and rehabilitation options through pamphlets and posters.

The drive coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976. The collector stressed strict enforcement against offenders, praising ROPES for its work, including the release of 95 bonded labourers from the three districts in the past year.
