Amaravati, February 09, 2026: Authorities in Andhra Pradesh have launched full-scale containment operations against avian influenza in Annamayya district's Sodam mandal following lab confirmation on February 8 from the National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases in Bhopal.
Rapid response teams culled birds in affected villages like Ammagaripalli and Puttavaripalli, where around 90 country chickens died over two days, triggering movement restrictions, disinfection drives, and surveillance zones.
District collectors coordinated efforts across animal husbandry, health, revenue, and police departments to enforce biosecurity and prevent spread.
