Amaravati, February 08, 2026: The Animal Husbandry Department confirmed avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, in Ammagaripalli and Puttavaripalli villages of Sodam mandal, Annamayya district.

Samples tested positive at the National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases in Bhopal, with official notification from the central Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying.

Rapid Response Teams deployed immediately to begin culling operations under strict guidelines. District Collectors oversee efforts involving Animal Husbandry, Revenue, Police, Panchayat Raj, and Health departments.

Enhanced surveillance covers nearby areas, alongside movement restrictions, disinfection, and bio-security enforcement. Officials stress no cause for panic the virus mainly affects birds, and properly cooked poultry meat and eggs remain safe. No human cases reported.
