Amaravati, February 08, 2026: Authorities rushed 92 tribal boys to hospitals in Maredumilli and Rampachodavaram after they fell sick from suspected food poisoning at the Government Tribal Welfare Ashram School hostel in Devarapalli, Polavaram district.
The students reported symptoms including vomiting, stomach pain, fever, and diarrhoea following their morning meal on February 7.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the situation and directed the district collector to initiate departmental action against Tribal Welfare Department officials and staff for negligence.
He demanded a detailed report by February 9 and ordered ongoing health monitoring with regular updates to his office. A special medical camp will screen remaining students, while food and water samples undergo testing to identify the cause.
