Amaravati, February 07, 2026: Drivers of app-based platforms Ola, Rapido, and Uber observed a one-day strike across Andhra Pradesh today, responding to a nationwide call by labour unions.

Services halted in major cities, including Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, and Guntur, with vehicles parked at bus stands, railway stations, and public spots. Commuters faced major inconvenience, especially at transport terminals and busy areas like malls and hotels, as drivers refused ride requests.

The protest centres on key demands: government-fixed minimum base fares to counter low earnings from uniform pricing, regulation of unauthorised transport vehicles, and addressing night-hour fare disparities that cut into driver income.

Drivers report struggling with costs amid rising fuel prices and exploitative aggregator policies. The action, part of the broader "All India Breakdown," highlights gig workers' push for fairer regulations nationwide.
