Amaravati, February 07, 2026: In Nandyal district's Ahobilam area, Paruveta Utsavam continues as a six-century-old tradition that brings people together. The festival starts after Sankranti on Kanuma day.

Devotees carry the idol of Lord Narasimha from the temple in the Nallamala forest to surrounding villages.

Over about 40 days, the deity reaches every street and household in 33 villages, including spots like Allagadda. Chenchu tribal communities lead key parts, shooting symbolic arrows to bid farewell and protect the procession.

Different groups join in: fisherfolk carry the palanquin, artisans build it, and people from various backgrounds offer garlands and play roles. Even in areas with diverse faiths, everyone participates without division.
