A dispersing sub-adult tiger from Maharashtra has killed around 20 cattle in Andhra Pradesh's Eluru and East Godavari districts since late January 2026.

Amaravati, February 06, 2026: A young male tiger, believed to have dispersed from Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, has crossed into Andhra Pradesh via corridors linking Telangana and Chhattisgarh.

First spotted in Eluru district around January 20-21, the animal has since moved toward East Godavari, killing livestock at an average of two per night in areas like Buttayagudem, Koyyalagudem, and near the outskirts.

Farmers report halted tobacco harvesting and dairy operations due to safety concerns, with potential crop and income losses mounting.
