Amaravati, February 06, 2026: Eluru district, formed from the former West Godavari region, now spans aquaculture across 1.49 lakh acres in 10 mandals, with Kalidindi as the biggest cluster at 30,000 acres. Nearly 27,000 farmers depend on the sector for their livelihoods.
While Krishna district currently leads statewide production, Eluru's growth in scale, technology adoption, and export focus has narrowed the gap significantly.
District Fisheries Officer B. Raj Kumar notes that peak harvest in April could position Eluru as number one in Andhra Pradesh.
