Amaravati, February 05, 2026: Police in Krishna district cracked a local counterfeit currency operation, arresting four suspects linked to printing and distributing fake ₹500 notes.

The bust followed detection of suspicious notes at a wine shop in Kruthivennu mandal, leading investigators to a rented house in Pendurthi mandal's Kokavanipalem village near Visakhapatnam outskirts.

Officers recovered counterfeit notes with a face value of about ₹6 lakh, ₹6,000 in real currency, printers, and related equipment. The accused reportedly offered large batches of fake notes at steep discounts to circulate them quickly. One suspect had prior links to similar cases and ganja smuggling.
