Vijayawada, February 03, 2026: Newly appointed APSRTC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director M.T. Krishna Babu reviewed operations after taking charge on February 2.

He highlighted the Stree Shakti scheme's strong impact: 23-25 lakh women use free bus travel daily, pushing their share of total passengers to 65-67% and lifting occupancy to nearly 90%. This surge has markedly improved the corporation's financial position through better seat utilisation and efficiency.

The review also covered passenger satisfaction (80% positive per surveys), infrastructure needs, and future plans like inducting 2,500 electric and CNG buses over five years under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme.
