Amaravati, February 03, 2026: Two Students Federation of India (SFI) leaders in Tirupati faced alleged abduction today by a group of about 30 people as they travelled to the Collectorate for a demonstration.

The protest targeted claimed excessive and irregular fee collection at Mohan Babu University, a private institution linked to actor Mohan Babu.

The leaders SFI district general secretary Akbar and another student representative, were reportedly attacked and taken away before police intervention led to their rescue within an hour.

Authorities in Tiruchanur registered a case against named individuals, including university officials. Student groups and left-affiliated organisations condemned the incident, calling for strict action and resolution of the underlying fee disputes.
