Vizianagaram, February 03, 2026: Masked burglars struck two flats in Laya Block at GMR Township under Santakaviti mandal on Sunday night. The victims a paediatrician from GMR Care Hospital in Rajam and a professor at GMR Institutions, were out of station. They discovered the break-ins Monday morning after returning.
Police say three suspects climbed the rear compound wall, forced open cupboards and safes, and escaped with 1.275 kg gold and 1 kg silver from one flat, plus 291 grams gold from the other.
Total haul: roughly 1.56 kg gold and silver items valued at around ₹2 crore. CCTV from the township parking area captured the masked trio entering from the back.
