Amaravati, February 03, 2026: District Collector Dr. V. Vinod Kumar outlined ambitious plans to position Bapatla as a key tourism spot in Andhra Pradesh.

He highlighted a master plan centred on water resources, including better road links to five beaches and major work at Surya Lanka Beach under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme, funded at ₹97.52 crore. New houseboating along the Perali canal will showcase mangrove ecosystems.

The push ties into the broader Amaravati Economic Zone, leveraging the district's coastal strengths, strong agriculture-aquaculture economy (₹77,579 crore annual output), and proximity to the state capital region. A Singapore team reviewed the vision, praising Surya Lanka's potential and exploring ties in aquaculture and infrastructure.
