Amaravati, February 01, 2026: Senior YSRCP leader and former minister Ambati Rambabu was arrested on January 31 in Guntur after police accused him of creating hurdles during their duties and using inflammatory language against Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
Authorities registered two FIRs one for interfering with on-duty officers, including reportedly pushing a sub-inspector, and another for comments deemed likely to provoke group clashes and disturb law and order.
The arrest unfolded against a backdrop of heightened friction linked to recent controversies, including protests and counter-allegations between ruling TDP and opposition YSRCP supporters. Police shifted Rambabu to Nallapadu station, while his wife approached the High Court claiming illegal detention and security lapses. Guntur police confirmed the action based on the specific allegations.
