Newsroom, February 01, 2026: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2026-27 today, outlining plans for ecologically sustainable trails to promote nature-based tourism.

Mountain trails will come up in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Araku Valley in Andhra Pradesh's Eastern Ghats, and Podhigai Malai in the Western Ghats (shared by Tamil Nadu and Kerala).

Turtle trails will focus on key nesting sites along the coasts of Odisha, Karnataka, and Kerala. Birdwatching trails are planned around Pulicat Lake, spanning Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
