Amaravati, January 31, 2026: A significant archaeological find has emerged in Palnadu district: a dense cluster of megalithic burials at Pedda Anupu Chenchu Colony, just five kilometres from the historic Nagarjunakonda site.

Experts documented 60 to 70 structures, including dolmens with deliberately sloped capstones (2.5–3.15 metres long), cists, a stone circle, and a one-metre anthropomorphic stone.

The site, surveyed on November 30, 2025, by ASI Hyderabad Circle's Dr. Sai Krishna Esarapu and Dr. Yadava Raghu, reveals a blend of Iron Age practices spanning roughly 1200 BCE to 300 CE. Nearby traces of a disturbed Buddhist phase highlight overlapping human activity in the Lower Krishna Valley.
