Vijayawada, January 30, 2026: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to fast-track national highway development, targeting completion of projects valued at Rs 1.40 lakh crore by 2029.

This includes linking major ports like Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Machilipatnam, Krishnapatnam, Mulapeta, and Ramayapatnam to national networks for better cargo flow from hinterlands andneighbouring states.

Key initiatives feature the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor, slated for a 2027 finish to connect Amaravati directly to southern markets. Other planned corridors include Kharagpur–Amaravati greenfield expressway, Nagpur–Vijayawada–Machilipatnam, and Raipur–Amaravati routes.
