Amaravati, January 28, 2026: Thirteen area hospitals across Andhra Pradesh are getting state-of-the-art integrated public health laboratories under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.
These facilities, built at a cost of ₹16.25 crore, will handle 134 tests covering communicable and non-communicable diseases, including microbiology, haematology, biochemistry, pathology, molecular biology, cardiac and cancer markers, hormone and vitamin analysis, and water quality checks. They will also support national programs for HIV, hepatitis, and tuberculosis screening.
Construction is nearly complete at 10 locations Seethampeta (Parvathipuram Manyam), Guntakal (Anantapur), Palamaner (Chittoor), Araku (Alluri Sitarama Raju), Narasaraopet (Palnadu), Aganampudi (Visakhapatnam), Banaganapalle (Nandyal), Chirala (Bapatla), Nandigama (NTR), and Jangareddygudem (Eluru, where sample testing has started).
Work continues at Tuni (Kakinada), Gudur (Nellore), and Anaparthi (East Godavari). Equipped with tools like automated cell counters, hormone analysers, and biological safety cabinets, the labs aim to speed up disease detection in rural areas and improve outbreak response through better coordination.
