Amaravati, January 28, 2026: Chittoor district police launched the Dhairya Sparsha initiative to empower girl students with knowledge on personal safety and legal protections. The program, led by the women police wing, kicked off at KGBV Girls School in Chittoor.
It focuses on helping girls distinguish between good touch and bad touch, confidently reject inappropriate behaviour, and report issues promptly to trusted adults or authorities.
Sessions cover key laws like the POCSO Act, which imposes strict penalties for child sexual offenses, and the ban on child marriage under 18 to safeguard education and health.
Police demonstrate emergency options, including helplines 112 and 1098, plus the Shakti App for instant SOS alerts to nearby stations and family. Additional SP (Operations) S.R. Rajashekhar Raju, the Shakti team nodal officer, said the effort will expand phase by phase to every girls' school and hostel in the district.
