Amaravati, January 28, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has urged authorities to handle compassionate appointment claims with empathy, not mechanically, after setting aside the rejection of a plea from the daughter of a deceased railway employee.
In a ruling by a Division Bench of Justices Cheekati Manavendranath Roy and Tuhin Kumar Gedela, the court quashed earlier denials by railway officials and the Central Administrative Tribunal.
The petitioner, Bora Narayanamma from Kottavalasa village in Vizianagaram district, sought a job after her father, a former gangman B. Ramulu, passed away following voluntary retirement in 2000 due to health issues.
Her 2006 application highlighted severe family hardship, initially recommended locally but rejected higher up citing a delay beyond five years.
