Amaravati, January 27, 2026: Governor S Abdul Nazeer unfurled the national flag at Nelapadu Parade Ground in Amaravati during the 77th Republic Day celebrations the first such state-level event in the capital since Andhra Pradesh's 2014 bifurcation.

He called it a proud, historic moment, noting how past stalls in the capital project had shaken investor trust and economic stability. The current government, he said, now pursues a clear vision: Swarna Andhra@2047, aiming for a strong, inclusive, globally competitive state by India's independence centenary.

He praised water security efforts, describing water as the state's lifeline. The government treats every drop as precious and advances interlinking of rivers like Vamsadhara, Godavari, Krishna, and Penna to ensure irrigation reaches every cultivable acre. The Polavaram project moves forward rapidly with full spillway and powerhouse excavation done, diaphragm wall nearing finish targeting commissioning by December 2027.

It promises to irrigate 7.2 lakh new acres, stabilize 23.5 lakh acres, and generate 960 MW of power. The revamped Jal Jeevan Mission targets universal rural tap connections by 2028 through sustainable, surface-water schemes.
