Vijayawada, January 27, 2026: APTransco has outlined an ambitious plan to wrap up 55 major transmission projects totaling Rs 9,319.30 crore. These initiatives will boost the state's grid by 8,853 MVA in transformation capacity and 1,558 circuit kilometres of new lines.
New 400/220/132 kV substations are under way at strategic spots like Kakinada SEZ, Achutapuram, Gudivada, and Ainavalli. This push supports the state's drive for uninterrupted, high-quality power.
APTransco currently manages 380 substations, over 1,030 transformers with 71,049 MVA total capacity, and more than 33,000 circuit km of high-voltage lines. It is also rolling out 1,500 MW/3,000 MWh Battery Energy Storage Systems in phases to enhance grid stability and handle peak loads.
