Vijayawada, January 27: Chief Justice Dheeraj Singh Thakur unfurled the national flag at the Andhra Pradesh High Court during 77th Republic Day celebrations and addressed a gathering that included senior officials.

He described the Constitution effective since January 26, 1950 as transforming India into a democratic republic while safeguarding principles of rule of law, equality, civil rights, and people's sovereignty.

The Chief Justice highlighted Republic Day as a symbol of hope and renewal, balancing justice, liberty, equality, and rights. He noted India's advances through welfare schemes, education reforms, digital infrastructure, skill development, and women empowerment to tackle poverty and discrimination.

Legal reforms now cover emerging fields like environmental protection, data privacy, national security, and artificial intelligence. He reaffirmed the judiciary's duty to protect constitutional values, civil liberties, and deliver speedy justice, while expressing strong confidence in youth driving a progressive India.
