Amaravati, January 27, 2026: Telugu Desam Party MP Lavu Srikrishnadevarayalu attended an all-party meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday and spotlighted two key issues for Andhra Pradesh.

He pointed to the severe distress among tobacco farmers caused by the shift from excise duty to GST on tobacco products, which has stalled trade and hit growers hard in the state and neighbouring Karnataka. Farmers face falling prices and reduced demand for their crop due to this policy change.

The MP urged swift resolution in Parliament. He also called for granting statutory status to Amaravati to end ongoing uncertainty over the capital project.
