Amaravati, January 26, 2026: Vizianagaram marked the 77th Republic Day with the unfurling of the national flag by Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy, followed by a significant financial commitment to women's empowerment.

The Collector released ₹1,019.14 crore through bank linkages to benefit 8,395 women self-help groups (SHGs), enabling greater access to credit and enterprise opportunities in the district.

The celebrations featured parades, cultural performances, photo exhibitions, and stalls showcasing government initiatives. Meritorious officers, including ophthalmic officer Vasanta Rao, received certificates.

Officials highlighted upcoming drivers of growth, such as Bhogapuram International Airport and MSME parks, which promise faster development while balancing welfare for vulnerable sections.
