Amaravati, January 26, 2026: The underground drainage (UGD) project in Tadepalligudem, stalled for years after partial completion in 2009, is now back on track.

The Andhra Pradesh government has secured ₹88.18 crore under the central AMRUT 2.0 scheme to resume the sewerage network and construct a functional sewage treatment plant (STP).

Earlier efforts laid pipelines and household connections worth about ₹28.50 crore, but work halted due to funding gaps and administrative shifts, leaving untreated sewage flowing into local canals and causing pollution, flooding in low-lying areas, and outbreaks of diseases like dengue.
