Amaravati, January 26, 2026: Speaking during Republic Day interactions in Srikakulam district, Raavada Seetharam, member of the Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Scheduled Castes, directed law enforcement to file First Information Reports without delay when Dalits report caste-based violence or discrimination.
Dalit leaders and activists highlighted persistent police reluctance to invoke the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, leaving many families without timely justice across the state.
Seetharam encouraged affected communities to share complaints directly with the commission via WhatsApp at 9701305417. He announced a dedicated review meeting in February to examine pending cases and push for faster enforcement.
