Amaravati, January 26, 2026: Authorities in East Godavari district have confirmed a comprehensive aerial Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) survey of the Godavari Delta in 2026.

The ₹13.42 crore project aims to capture precise data on the delta's evolving landscape, between the Coringa and Kolleru ecosystems, aiding better planning for irrigation, flood management, and infrastructure resilience in the fertile region that sustains millions through agriculture.

The initiative ties into broader delta modernisation efforts, following earlier sanctions for the survey to accelerate canal system improvements. It comes amid ongoing investments in the area, including barrage repairs, tourism projects, and industrial pacts.
