A woman died of burn injuries in Guntur district after allegedly pouring petrol on a house to target a family following a panchayat ruling. Six others suffered burns in the blaze.

Amaravati, January 25, 2026: A woman named Aruna died while receiving treatment at Guntur Government General Hospital after she allegedly set fire to a house in Suddapalli village, Chebrolu mandal, Guntur district.

Angered by a panchayat decision in a dispute with a resident named Mallesh, she poured petrol on his home and ignited it in an attempt to harm the family.

The fire injured six neighbours along with Aruna herself, bringing the total to seven burn victims. All were rushed to the hospital for care. Police have registered a case and continue their investigation into the incident.
