Amaravati, January 25, 2026: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has committed to bringing Krishna River water to Nagari in Chittoor district to meet long-standing drinking water needs.
Speaking at a public meeting during the Swarnandhra-Swachhandhra campaign, he said the Nagari-Galeru project estimated at Rs 2,000-3,000 crore will be completed "at any cost" before the next polls. As an immediate step, water will flow through the Swarnamukhi-Somasila Canal via Mallimadugu.
Naidu also pledged to supply Krishna water to Chittoor city within six months and develop Nagari on the model of Kuppam.
He announced new electronic manufacturing and industrial clusters in Vadamalapeta and Vijayapuram mandals to boost local jobs and growth. These moves aim to strengthen water security and economic prospects in Rayalaseema amid ongoing Krishna basin challenges.
