Amaravati, January 24, 2026: Forest officials in Eluru district have verified fresh tiger pugmarks in the Nagavaram Mutha Reserve Forest, spanning areas like Pandirimamidigudem and Buttayagudem mandals.

The tiger, suspected to be a male, appears to have crossed from Telangana's Kavadigundla forest where it killed a calf, into Andhra Pradesh, with tracks also noted near Antarvedi Gudem and Nagula Gudem villages.

The District Forest Department, under officer Sandeep Reddy, has launched urgent measures: camera traps deployed, night patrols intensified, and a control room established for real-time coordination.

Local announcements urge residents to keep livestock indoors and avoid straying into fields alone, especially farmers and herders, to minimise the risks of human-wildlife conflict.
