Amaravati, January 23, 2026: Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu stated that the Handri-Neeva project achieved a milestone by transferring 40.109 billion cubic feet of water to reservoirs and tanks in the Rayalaseema districts over 190 days.

This volume surpasses the project's original design capacity, thanks to upgrades including expanded pumping from one to 12 units and rapid canal widening.

The effort supports irrigation in the drought-prone region, with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directing officials to push toward a 50 tmc ft target by early March.
