Nearly 25000 students flocked to Vijayawada's Indrakeeladri hill shrine on Sri Panchami, seeking Goddess Kanaka Durga's blessings for academic success.

Amaravati, January 23, 2026: Students, joined by parents and teachers, arrived as early as 4 a.m. at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri popularly known as Kanaka Durga Temple.

On Sri Panchami (Vasantha Panchami or Saraswati Jayanti), the deity was adorned as Goddess Saraswati, symbolising wisdom and learning.

Special rituals included Saraswati Mantra Havanam, Homam, Sahasra Kumkumarchana, and Pushparchana. Temple officials and priests offered pens and flowers to the goddess.

The Maha Mandapam hosted pen and prasadam distribution to thousands, with free darshan for students in uniform or with ID. Mass Aksharabhyasam ceremonies initiating young children into education, took place at the main temple and nearby Sri Trisakthi Peetam.
